EVENT OVERVIEW
What is Taco Takedown?
Taco Takedown is Beloit, Wisconsin’s ultimate taco tasting experience, where local vendors go head-to-head to earn the coveted Taco Takedown champion belt. Guests get to taste tacos, vote for their favorites, and enjoy a full day of live bands, DJs, and the legendary jalapeño eating contest—where brave competitors put their spice tolerance to the test. Admission is free, with food and drinks available for purchase.
Where is Taco Takedown located?
This year’s event takes place in a brand-new location—on the spine of the Ironworks Campus, just outside Henry Dorrbaker’s Pub & Play (605 Third Street, Beloit, WI).

What happens in case of bad weather?
Taco Takedown is a rain or shine event. In the event of inclement weather, we'll move the fun just down the block to the covered waterfront pavilion at the corner of Ironworks Drive and Third Street, under the Rakuten building.
How do I join the Jalapeño Eating Contest brought to you by truk’t?
- Sign up at 2 PM at the truk’t tent (First 8 people only)
- Must be 18+ and sign a waiver
- Meet at the stage by 3:30 PM
- Contest starts at 4 PM
- Eat the most raw jalapeños (by weight) to win
- Tiebreaker round if needed
What are the Jalapeño Eating Contest prizes?
1st – Custom Jalapeño Trophy + $100 Geronimo Hospitality Gift Card
2nd – $50 Geronimo Hospitality Gift Card
All participants get a free truk’t t-shirt!
FOOD & VENDORS
Will I be able to try every food truck?
This year, each vendor will serve one taco and one side—their best of the best—for judging. Come hungry!
How do I vote for my favorite vendor?
Taste as many tacos as you like, then vote for your favorite. Each truck is numbered. Use these numbers to remember your top choice when filling out your ballot. The vendor with the most votes will win the Championship Belt, bragging rights, and a cash prize. VOTING CLOSES AT 7PM.
Do food vendors accept cash or card?
Bars will accept cash and cards. Most food vendors will accept cards, but payment methods may vary by vendor. Please come prepared and bring cash if needed.
VIP EXPERIENCE
What’s included in the Don Julio VIP Experience?
The Don Julio VIP Experience includes access to a reserved area, a private bar with upgraded offerings, a Don Julio tequila tasting (2–6 PM), front-row access to the jalapeño eating contest presented by truk’t, and a swag bag. This is a 21+ experience.
If the event is free, why should I purchase a Don Julio VIP Experience ticket?
While general admission is free, the Don Julio VIP Experience offers an exclusive upgrade with perks you won’t find at the event, including a premium tequila tasting, private bar access, and unbeatable stage views.
Is the VIP area open all day?
The VIP area is open for the full duration of the event, with the tequila tasting offered from 2–6 PM.
Where is the Don Julio VIP Experience located?
The VIP area is located on the patio lawn outside of Henry Dorrbaker's.
What’s the refund policy for VIP tickets?
All VIP ticket sales are final. No refunds will be issued.
ADMISSION
Are there ID or age requirements?
Taco Takedown is open to all ages. Guests 21+ must present valid ID to receive an alcohol wristband upon entry.
Can I leave and come back?
Yes! Taco Takedown is a free event and re-entry is allowed. Please note that all guests are subject to search upon entry and re-entry.
AMENITIES
Will Henry Dorrbaker’s be open?
Yes! Henry Dorrbaker’s Pub & Play will be open during the event, operating normal hours from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. We're talkin' duckpin bowling, mini golf, vintage arcade games and a giant bar with pub fare, craft cocktails and brews.
Will there be restrooms?
Yes. There will be portable restrooms and handwashing stations available for guests.
Is parking available?
Yes! Free parking is available in Ironworks Campus lots, with additional street parking nearby.
Will there be security?
Yes. Security will be present throughout the event. All bags are subject to inspection before entry. No backpacks or bags larger than 9”x10”x12” will be permitted. Our staff and security team will be on hand to assist with any safety concerns or emergencies.
Can I bring my service animal?
Service animals and service animals-in-training are welcome. For everyone’s safety, we encourage the use of a vest, harness, cape, or leash that clearly identifies your animal’s role.
Is Taco Takedown handicap accessible?
Yes. Taco Takedown is ADA-compliant and accessible.
Will photos or videos be taken during the event?
Yes. Event photographers and videographers will be on-site. By attending, you consent to having your image captured for promotional use.
